Founder & Cyber Security Consultant, Systems Secure

James Batt is the driving force behind Systems Secure—a trusted partner to small and medium-sized businesses who need real-world cybersecurity that actually works.

With 26 years in the oil and gas industry, James worked his way up from hands-on user support to North EAME IT Manager and Solutions Architect. His journey took him across the USA and Europe, leading high-impact IT and cybersecurity initiatives for global teams. Along the way, James earned industry-recognised certifications including Microsoft Certified Security Engineer, VMware, CEH, and CISSP.

He was responsible for designing and delivering cutting-edge technology solutions, helping his organisation stay secure and competitive in a demanding market. But as the landscape changed, James saw a bigger challenge: smaller businesses deserved robust, practical security—without corporate jargon or sky-high costs.

That’s why he founded Systems Secure. Today, James brings his deep expertise in ethical hacking, technical design, and real-world security to every client. From endpoint detection and response to cloud hardening, audits, and security awareness training, his mission is simple: protect every client with tailored solutions that deliver peace of mind.

He’s not just a technical expert—he’s a trusted guide for business owners who want clear answers, honest advice, and a security partner who genuinely cares.

Fern joined Systems Secure in 2021 after an intense four-year internship in tail-chasing, mud-digging, and nap rotation strategy.

With a nose for trouble (and peanut butter), Fern is our

Head of Perimeter Surveillance

—vigilantly monitoring the front window for suspicious activity, rogue delivery drivers, and unapproved squirrels.

When she’s not pacing the office in full alert mode, she’s keeping morale high with strategic lean-ins, soulful eyes, and occasional zoomies across the rug.

Fern believes every business deserves to feel safe, seen, and maybe even sniffed (just once). She’s fiercely loyal, always listening, and entirely powered by chicken treats.

Her primary responsibilities include:

Barking before the doorbell rings (proactive threat detection)

Making sure the "hoomans" take breaks (mandatory walk protocol)

Acting as a living, breathing reminder that cybersecurity is serious—but we’re human first

Junior Cyber Disruptor & Nap-Time Coordinator

🐾 Small dog. Big Job. I'm Pretzel

At just 2 years old, Pretzel may be small in size, but she’s big on personality—and attitude.

As our Junior Cyber Disruptor, Pretzel specializes in breaking tension, lightening moods, and slipping into Zoom calls uninvited. Her unique skill set includes tail-wagging diplomacy, blanket burrowing recon, and strategic snuggling to reduce humans stress levels.

When Pretzel isn’t curled up like a cinnamon roll in her designated corner, she’s confidently asserting herself as the emotional intelligence backbone of the company.

Her motto?
